Land, old houses, and life in East Texas

A New Water Well at the Pine Mills Project

This week we had a water well drilled at our project in Pine Mills.

The first option was the local water company. Fouke Water Supply quoted about $25,000 to run a water line out to the house. That is a lot of money, and the house would still come with a monthly water bill.

So we called Bird’s Water Well out of Hawkins instead. They hit water at 268 feet, and the whole well came in at about $15,000, roughly $10,000 less than the water line. Bird’s did a great job, and the homeowner will never have a monthly water bill.

Out here, a well is often the better deal. A lot of East Texas land sits a long way from a water line, and running one out can cost more than drilling. If you are looking at rural land, find out where the nearest line is and get a quote from a local driller before you decide.

This property is coming along nicely. More to come.
