Land, old houses, and life in East Texas

Turning a Few Good Trees into Lumber

We were clearing some land this week and came across a few nice trees that were too good to push into a burn pile. So we decided to save them and turn them into usable lumber for future projects.

We brought in a portable sawmill and set it up right there on the property. The tractor loaded each log onto the mill, and the saw went to work.

By the end of it, we had a nice trailer full of lumber.

It takes a little more time than piling and burning, but good lumber is not cheap, and these trees grew right here. It feels good to put them to use.
